Lamp holders that could hold a shade.

Lampholder are listed as for BARE BULB or for SHADES. This means they either do or don't have a system to secure a shade in place.
It is possible that some BARE BULB lampholders can be used to hold a shade however this is to be tested by the maker or electrican.

Lampholders for Shades have what is called ferrules or shade rings. These sandwich the shade in place via the shade ring or the top of the shade.

In Australia there are two different type of shade ring holes 40mm and 27mm. 

You can double check the lampholder dimensions on the product page to see if it will fit your shade or ask your shade supplier.

This E14 Porcelain lampholder can be opened up to secure a shade. It is not possible to make shade rings of porcelain.

It will fit into a 27mm shade hole. The shade cannot be thicker than 6mm.This should be tested.

Remember that using an E14 lampholder means you need to use an E14 bulb which is generally small.
