What is a side-hole ceiling rose?
Side-hole ceiling roses look just like standard ceiling roses but with additional holes on the side. Sometimes its front plate can have a hole like in one-hole ceiling roses or no hole at all.

Where do I use a side-hole ceiling rose?
Side-hole ceiling roses are used when fabric cable is to exit the rose on the side. There are two main locations you use a side-hole ceiling rose.
1- Multiple pendants are being installed or
2- The power location is at a different location to the ceiling rose.
Cable is trailed along ceiling and walls to alternative drop locations or to plugs or alternative hardwiring spots. This is particularly useful when creating your own wall lighting that will be plugged in or when multiple pendant lights will be hung at different locations on the ceiling. Often hardwiring doesn’t occur in the most ideal location, for instance where ceiling cavities are too small to accommodate the light. The use of the side-hole ceiling rose means that the cable can be trailed to the exact point you need it to go.
