Shade hole: 40mm

In Australia, there are two main standard shade hole sizes: 40mm European (E27) and 27mm Australian standard (B22). This guide covers 40mm shade hole fittings.

Depending on the shade design, the mounting ring may sit near the upper rim of the shade structure.

Some lampshades feature a recessed internal wire ring that sits deeper inside the shade frame to conceal the lamp holder.

You need to purchase a threaded lamp holder equipped with dual shade rings that clamp either side of the hole. These are available under lamp holders for light shade E27 size.

These lamp holders take screw-in E27 Edison bulbs. They are not compatible with B22 bayonet bulbs.
