They are the Edison Screw lamp fittings E14, E27E40 and the Bayonet cap light fittings B22 and B15 and. In brief here are the difference between them all to help you find the best match for your lighting decorative plan. At the base of any lightbulb you will find the cap or the connector which touches the connector within the lamp holder fitting. This is where you find the answer to what type of connector it is it. E for Edison screw-in and B for Bayonet cap. The numbers of the bulbs generally match the width of the connector. For example, an E14 Edson screw is 14mm in diameter. When reordering use this knowledge of the codes to match the right bulb to your light socket. The Edison Screw was developed by the famous inventor Thomas Edison. General Electrics trademarked the design in 1909 so can you believe it’s already seen over 100 years of use! The light bulbs metal base is threaded and screws into a matching base in the lamp holder.
